Northern Natural Gas is lifting Thursday a System Overrun Limitation notice. The SOL had been in effect, mostly systemwide but for only one or two market-area zones on a couple of days, since Jan. 18 (see Daily GPI, Jan. 21).

Public Interest Groups Tout Efficiency, Renewables, Blast Lifting Drilling Moratoria

Increasing natural gas prices should not scare Congress into allowing greedy gas producers to drill willy-nilly across environmentally sensitive areas or areas currently blocked by drilling moratoria, environmentalists, ranchers, public interest groups and scientists said last Wednesday during a teleconference on the “real story behind the natural gas crisis.”

Increasing natural gas prices should not scare Congress into allowing greedy gas producers to drill willy-nilly across environmentally sensitive areas or areas currently blocked by drilling moratoria, environmentalists, ranchers, public interest groups and scientists said on Wednesday during a teleconference on the “real story behind the natural gas crisis.” The conference was organized by the Community Office for Resource Efficiency (CORE), the Northern Plains Resource Council and The Wilderness Society.

A day after lifting a systemwide Stage 2 high-inventory OFO, Pacific Gas & Electric issued a new one for Saturday’s gas day. Penalties of $1/Dth were unchanged, but the tolerance for positive daily imbalances was loosened a bit from zero in the previous OFO to 2%.

FERC Eases Flow of Information Between Itself and Market Monitors

FERC last Wednesday issued an order lifting restrictions on the flow of communication between the federal agency and its market monitors spread out across the country. An unfettered, two-way stream of information between FERC and the market monitors is seen as a key element in the Commission’s overall efforts to stay on top of energy markets throughout the United States.

Effective Wednesday, Northwest is lifting a customer-specific Declared Overrun Entitlement Period for overtakes that was issued Nov. 4 (see Daily GPI, Nov. 5). Thanking customers for their cooperation, Northwest said its Jackson Prairie Storage account “is returning to adequate winter storage levels and Kemmerer’s north throughput flow is being reduced.”
