Natural gas forward prices bounced back this week by an average of more than 10 cents as conditions became oversold thanks to several weeks of double-digit declines across the front of forward curves, according to NGI’s Forward Look.

Cheniere Energy Inc.’s Sabine Pass Liquefaction project in Louisiana may very well have produced its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) this week from the its first train, Genscape Inc. said Friday after monitoring pipeline and flaring activity around the plant.

For the second month in a row, gas-fired power generation gained ground on coal-fired plants compared to the previous year by not falling off nearly as sharply, according to Genscape Inc.’s “Generation Fuel Monitor Report.”

U.S. natural gas-fired power generation fell 14% in October from the year-ago month due to lower electricity demand and more power from renewable and nuclear sources, according to Genscape Inc. Surprisingly, the decline in gas-fired generation occurred even though a significant number of coal-fired plants were offline during the month.
