April natural gas prices fell an average 6 cents from March 16-22 as not even a cold weather forecast for early April could turn traders’ attention from near-record production, according to NGI’s Forward Look.

Natural gas forward prices for October rose an average 17 cents from Sept. 8-14 as weather forecasts called for warmer-than-normal temperatures to finish out the month, according to NGI’s Forward Look. But the market’s realization that demand destruction caused by Hurricane Irma may have been overestimated also weighed on forwards this week.

Natural gas prices for October fell an average 12 cents from Sept. 1 to 6 as a trifecta of factors created the only logical path for forward markets during the short holiday week, according to NGI’s Forward Look. NGI was closed Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day.

What a difference a week makes. Just a week after plunging by the double digits, natural gas September forward prices vaulted an average 22 cents from Aug. 4 to 10 as weather forecasts became more convincing that the United States will experience more hot weather for the second half of August and into the first week of September.
