Liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers from Yemen will be allowed to enter Boston Harbor beginning later this month, the U.S. Coast Guard said last week. Tankers from the country, which is thought to harbor terrorists, will be subject to additional security, the Coast Guard said.

Futures Ease, But Another 200 Bcf-Plus Storage Draw Expected

Warmer temps allowed natural gas futures values to trickle a little lower on Wednesday, but traders are more than aware that winter is far from over. The February contract on Wednesday closed at $5.496, down 6.1 cents from Tuesday’s regular session finish.

Northeast Dives Lead Softening Across the Board

There was still a pretty large amount of heating load remaining Monday, but the relative overall moderation from last week allowed prices to plunge by large amounts at all points. Northeast citygates, which had constituted the only stronger market area Friday, led the descent with multi-dollar dives; Transco’s two Zone 6 pools fell by about $6 or a little less.

Extended Chill Puts Upward Pressure Back on $6 Futures

The continuation of bone-chilling cold in a number of high gas usage regions allowed February natural gas futures on Monday to rebound from Thursday’s storage report-induced slump. The prompt-month contract recorded a high of $5.894 in morning trade and went on to close out the regular session at $5.884, up 31.2 cents from Thursday’s finish.

After ending a two-day systemwide Stage 3 high-inventory OFO Saturday, Pacific Gas and Gas implemented another OFO for Sunday on its California Gas Transmission system but allowed that one to lapse Monday.
