Calpine announced two new members of its senior management team. The company has named James Brown as senior vice president for commodity structuring and valuation and Jeffrey Kinneman as senior vice president for structured finance, strategy and restructuring. Kinneman joins the company from Texas Genco, which recently was acquired by NRG Energy. At Texas Genco he was acting chief risk officer and director of credit and risk management. Brown returns to Calpine, having previously served as vice president-structuring.

With former Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) member Marc Spitzer now a FERC regulator, Barry Wong, Spitzer’s interim replacement named last Wednesday by the governor, will be sworn in Monday in the ACC main hearing room in its Phoenix headquarters. Wong will serve on the state regulatory commission for the rest of the year. November’s election will produce a permanent new commissioner as Spitzer’s second elected term on the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) was set to expire Dec. 31. Selected quickly by Gov. Janet Napolitano, Wong is a lawyer/consultant who operates his own firm providing legal and consulting services focused on government access and relations. Wong becomes a possible swing vote on several issues, including the state commission’s debate over establishing permanent renewable portfolio standard (RPS) goals.
