Royal Dutch Shell plc plans to reduce its workforce by 2,200 more people, bringing global layoffs since the start of 2015 to about 12,500, the company confirmed this week.

Denver-based Resolute Energy Corp. agreed sell its Gardendale assets in the Midland Basin of West Texas to an undisclosed buyer for $177.5 million. Proceeds will reduce debt and fund development in the Delaware Basin and in the Aneth Field of southeast Utah, the company said.

Consol Energy Inc. said it is cutting its Appalachian Basin workforce, confirming layoffs in its gas division and joining several of its peers across the country that have recently announced similar plans aimed at reducing costs amid the commodities downturn.
