John N. Seitz, president and COO of leading independent Anadarko Petroleum Corp., has been elected CEO by the board. Robert J. Allison, now chairman and CEO, will retain his chairman of the board position. “John has been an instrumental part of Anadarko’s tremendous success with exploration and development drilling for more than 20 years and he will now be the chief executive of the company,” said Allison. “I’m proud of what we have achieved for shareholders.” Allison also said he intends to be a full-time, active chairman and has no immediate plans for retirement. Allison joined Anadarko in 1973 as vice president of operations and was promoted to president in 1976 and CEO in 1979. He took on the additional role of chairman when Anadarko was spun off from Panhandle Eastern in 1986. Seitz joined Anadarko in 1977 as an exploration geologist and was named vice president of exploration and production operations in 1989 and promoted to executive vice president of exploration and production and elected to the company’s board in 1997. In 1999, Seitz was promoted to president and COO. Seitz will host investor meetings in New York City, Boston and Denver next week to discuss his views on the industry and Anadarko’s preliminary capital spending plans for 2002. The New England Gas Association (NEGA) elected Craig R. Frew as its new chairman. Frew is president of the Iroquois Gas Transmission System. He joined NEGA in 1994 and was elected to the NEGA board that year. In March 2001, he was elected NEGA vice chairman and was confirmed as chairman at the board’s Dec. 12, 2001 meeting. He succeeds Russell D. Wright. NEGA President Tom Kiley said Frew’s “experience in the natural gas and interstate pipeline business, and his knowledge of the New England and Northeast marketplace, are great assets for NEGA.” NEGA, based in Needham, MA, was established in 1926. Its membership includes all of New England’s local natural gas utilities, the interstate pipeline companies, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) importer, and over 260 associate member companies. The natural gas utilities serve 2.3 million customers in nearly 500 communities in New England.
