Citing forecasts of 93-degree weather in Florida and lower linepack, Florida Gas Transmission issued an Overage Alert Day for market-area customers Thursday. The tolerance for negative daily imbalances was set at 25%. The pipeline said it would not interrupt previously scheduled market-area ITS-1 service for Thursday’s gas day.

Northern Natural Gas, operator of the Matagorda Offshore Pipeline System (MOPS), said Thursday construction delays have again changed its tentative schedule for restoring service on MOPS following a June 12 shutdown (see Daily GPI, July 25). Northern originally had scheduled some MOPS production to come on-line this week for pressure testing of the system at the beginning of this week and full restoration of operations was tentatively set for Aug. 2 (see Daily GPI, July 20), but that was changed Tuesday. Now Northern has postponed startup of flows at nine MOPS platforms until Aug. 13-14 and said it projects Aug. 23 as the date for full operations. See the bulletin board for details of the new schedule.

Questar reported experiencing a mechanical failure Thursday at Greasewood Compressor Station and said nominations to the TransColorado interconnect would be reduced to 30,000 Dth/d in Cycles 3 and 4 for Thursday’s gas day while repairs were made. However, the repairs were completed ahead of schedule, allowing Questar to keep the capacity to TransColorado at 45,000 Dth/d for Cycles 3 and 4. Questar also said that to ensure efficient operations on its Southern System, it will be pigging ML 68 every Sunday beginning July 29. To facilitate the pigging process, no Sunday nominations will be accepted for both the Rifle generation plant and the delivery point to Rocky Mountain Natural Gas.

Northwest thanked customers for voluntarily reducing northbound primary nominations through the Kemmerer (WY) Compressor by 11% or more since mid- May. “Because of our customers’ assistance, Northwest has been able to move the majority of its balancing gas” from Questar‘s Clay Basin storage facility to Northwest’s Jackson Prairie storage facility, a bulletin board posting said. Northwest said that as of Aug. 1, it will no longer need voluntary nomination reductions north through Kemmerer or Meacham Compressor Station and will be able to schedule and flow 652,000 Dth/d and 439,000 Dth/d, respectively, at the two stations. The pipeline added that it has about 500,000 dekatherms of gas stored in Jackson Prairie related to Receiving Party imbalances. “In order to keep Northwest’s balancing gas in the market area for winter use, Northwest is asking its customers to make arrangements to minimize these Receiving Party imbalances,” Northwest said. “If Northwest continues to store this imbalance gas, Northwest will be forced to move its system balancing gas from Jackson Prairie to Clay Basin, thus obviating the voluntary reductions made by its customers.”

Citing “favorable conditions on the system,” Kern River raised the operational capacity at Goodsprings Compressor Station (see Daily GPI, July 25) to 1,487,000 Dth/d effective Thursday until further notice.
