Transportation Notes

Tennessee said tests at its Bear Creek Storage Facility will continue through April 22. To ensure that it has sufficient injection capacity to manage system operations, Tennessee anticipates that effective Thursday it will implement the following constraints: no IS and FS-AO injection nominations will be accepted for Bear Creek, and Ellisburg and Harrison injection nominations will be limited to Primary only. The restrictions are expected to remain in effect through April 22.

Transportation Notes

Sonat will declare force majeures in conjunction with shut-in tests scheduled at its two storage fields during April. Firm storage (CSS) customers will be allocated to 36% of their currently effective Daily Injection Quantity (DIQ) and Daily Withdrawal Quantity (DWQ) during April 1-7 work at the Muldon facility in Mississippi and to 64% of DIQ/DWQ during April 8-21 work at the Bear Creek facility in North Louisiana. These reduced levels of DIQ and DWQ are subject to change, if necessary.

With the Kern River 2003 pipeline expansion set to add 900 MMcf/d of gas transportation capacity out of the Rocky Mountain region this fall, other upstream pipelines are expecting producers to begin searching for ways to bring their growing production to Opal, WY, where Kern begins its 900-mile route to Southern California.

ANR Tests Ohio Market for Pipeline Expansion Project

ANR Pipeline Co. is holding a non-binding open season to test the Ohio market for additional transportation capacity needs to current and new delivery points in the western part of the state. Company officials said the project potentially would include new market laterals and expansion of existing system capacity from multiple supply areas.

ANR Files West Leg Expansion, Tests Market for New Lebanon Lateral Space

ANR Pipeline Co. last week requested FERC approval of a $42.1 million pipeline looping and replacement project in Walworth and Rock counties, WI. The West Leg Expansion project is designed to add 220,000 Dth/d of firm transportation capacity to its system in order to serve new demand from local distribution companies and power generators. The pipeline company also started an open season to test the market’s interest in expanding its portion of the Lebanon Lateral, which is jointly owned by Texas Eastern Transmission.

El Paso Tests Market Again for CA Lateral; Desert Crossing Likes the Idea

El Paso Natural Gas said it plans to test the market again for a proposed 700 MMcf/d bi-directional lateral between Ehrenberg, AZ, Daggett, CA, and Emidio, CA. An open season for the lateral, which will use portions of the All American Pipeline El Paso purchased last year, will close on Feb. 28. El Paso expects the lateral facilities could be in service by the fourth quarter of 2003.

Irving, TX-based Magnum Hunter Resources Inc. has completed tests results from two wells at its South Timbalier (ST) 264 platform. The ST 264 A No. 1 well was perforated from 8, 190 feet to 8,224 feet, gravel packed, and tested at rates exceeding 1,000 bbl/d and 2 MMcf/d. The well tested on a 18/64-inch choke with 3,152 psi flowing tubing pressure. The second well, ST 264 A No. 2, was completed from 8,116 feet to 8,174 feet and tested at 2.8 MMcf/d and 200 bbl/d. Flowing tubing pressure was 4,190 psi on a 10/64-inch choke. Magnum Hunter owns 100% working interest in these wells and the associated lease block. Production sales have now begun on ST 264 A No. 2 well and production sales should begin by the end of July on ST 264 A No. 1 well.
