ANR began unplanned engine repairs Wednesday at Joliet (IL) Compressor Station, reducing the total NGPL-Joliet Interconnect capacity to 90,000 Dth/d through Jan. 18. Based on current nominations, it is anticipated that the reduction will result in the curtailment of IT and Firm Secondary nominations.

Algonquin Breaks Ground on Millennium-Linked Expansion

Algonquin Gas Transmission LLC broke ground Tuesday on its Ramapo Expansion, which includes a new compressor station in Oxford, CT; replacement of approximately five miles of natural gas pipeline in Ramapo, NY; new turbine compressor units at three existing stations in New York and New Jersey; and upgrades to other existing facilities.

Transportation Notes

Dominion reported completing repair work Thursday on Cornwell Compressor Station’s Engine No. 9 and said production in bubbles 3226, 3227 and 2207 can be resumed following notification to Dominion field personnel. However, a couple of hours after that posting the pipeline said it was encountering unexpected problems in returning the engine to service and that the production in those bubbles must remain shut in until the problems are resolved.

Transportation Notes

ANR Pipeline said it must repair an engine at the St. John Compressor Station in Indiana in the Northern Fuel Segment (ML-7) that will reduce St. John west-to-east capacity by 115 MMcf/d (leaving 1,190 MMcf/d available) through Dec. 18. Based on current nominations, the outage could result in the curtailment of firm secondary and IT nominations, ANR said.

Transportation Notes

Citing welding delays in repairing a Saturday rupture west of Cheyenne Station (see Daily GPI, Nov. 14), Wyoming Interstate Co. said it was required to maintain a curtailment of mainline capacity through its Laramie East constraint point to zero through at least Wednesday. Flow through the Medicine Bow Lateral was not impacted, WIC said. “At this time, WIC anticipates that it will be able to accept nominations…Wednesday for its full Wyoming mainline capacity” in the Timely cycle for Thursday’s gas day, the pipeline said.

Florida Gas Transmission said a third-party contractor damaged its Texas mainline near compressor station six, requiring one to three days of repair work. The line had been transporting about 300,000 Dth/d. FGT also declared an overage alert in its market area Tuesday with a 25% tolerance.

Weekend Prices Still Falling at Nearly All Points

A gain of nearly a dime at Transco Station 30 and a flat Florida citygate were the only exceptions to prices continuing to fall Friday. The decline of industrial load that accompanies a weekend was added to the established list of bearish market influences — moderate to cool weather in almost every area, a prior-day screen drop, increasingly negative storage issues and a benign (so far) hurricane season for Gulf of Mexico production.

ANR Pipeline said that due to an unforeseen engine outage at Patterson Compressor Station it will need to restrict the Patterson-to-Eunice delivery capacity in Louisiana to 650,000 Dth/d through July 17. Based on current nominations, the reductions are expected to result in the curtailment firm secondary and IT nominations.
