Petrosearch Spins Off Subsidiary to Explore Lower Wilcox

Looking to tap into natural gas supplies in southeastern Colorado County, TX, Petrosearch Corp. said Tuesday it has formed a new subsidiary, Pursuit Petrosearch LLC., to explore the deep Wilcox formation. The new company will be based in Houston.

Southeastern Utilities Suspend Efforts to Form SeTrans RTO

Backers of a proposed regional transmission organization (RTO) in the Southeast known as SeTrans last week said that they are suspending efforts related to forming the RTO, saying that it is “highly unlikely that consensus support and acceptance for the SeTrans RTO will be forthcoming from all applicable state and federal agencies.”

Columbia Gas said Thursday a Critical Day designation for Market Area 34 in southeastern Virginia, initiated Sunday, will remain in place Friday through Sunday and will also be applied to storage injections. Based on forecasted markets, available facilities and capacity utilization, there is still no non-firm capacity available to Market Area 34, the pipeline said. In addition, it projects that no excess injection capacity will be available for non-firm storage services, thus ruling out MDIQ overruns, SIT injections, imbalance paybacks and ISS injections.

EPSA Upset Over Alleged White House-Congress Deal to Delay RTOs, SMD

An alleged agreement struck between the White House and Southeastern federal lawmakers that would delay the formation of regional transmission organizations (RTOs) and FERC’s standard market design (SMD) proposal could destroy efforts to bring the country’s power grid up to snuff, as well as undercut the ability of regions to address capacity shortages, the president of the Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA) warned Vice President Dick Cheney last week.

Piping on the Bay Marchand 5 platform offshore southeastern Louisiana was damaged during Hurricane Lili, Tennessee said. A jackup rig is scheduled to be on site Dec. 18 to perform repairs that are expected to last eight days. Physical flow will be suspended Dec. 18-25 at the following meters: Bay Marchand 24, Grand Isle 47, South Timbalier 22, Grand Isle 48J, South Timbalier 54/55E, and South Timbalier 23. A second Bay Marchand meter will be affected, but its block number was not identified.
