Southern Natural said Friday that it is currently at maximum storage injection and based on current supply and projected demand, it will exceed its maximum storage injection capacity beginning with the start of the gas day on Saturday, July 19. Southern said it would review nominations Saturday and could call a Type 6 OFO if it does not see a decrease in supply. It requested that all shippers/poolers monitor the balance between actual receipts and deliveries (including no-notice injection entitlements, scheduled ISS injections, and scheduled parks) to ensure that an out-of-balance situation does not occur.

Natural gas explorer Western Gas Resources Inc. projected Thursday that its total net production this year will increase to an average of 146 MMcfe/d, or 10% more than 2002. The company plans to spend 30% more for expansion projects this year, with most directed toward coalbed methane (CBM) growth projects in the Powder River and Greater Green River basins.

The company plans to spend 30% more for expansion projects this year, with most directed toward coalbed methane (CBM) growth projects in the Powder River and Greater Green River basins.

Citing forecasted weather and projected demand on its system, Sonat said eight delivery groups would become subject to an OFO Type 3 effective with the start of Saturday’s gas day until further notice. OFO penalties are $15/Dth for any delivery point overtakes exceeding 102% of a shipper’s daily entitlement. The pipeline also began allocating/limiting interruptible capacity in four other groups Saturday.

Based on the weather forecast and projected demand, Sonat is subjecting eight groups on its system to an OFO Type 3 Thursday until further notice. The OFO carries penalties of $15/Dth for excessive negative imbalances. These groups are affected: Birmingham Group, South Main Zone 2, Atlanta Group, South Main Zone 3, East of Wrens, South Georgia-Lee County, Brunswick Line and Savannah Line.
