Looking at the majority of market points for Tuesday natural gas deliveries, one might conclude it was a lazy summer day’s trading. However, Southern California and New England quickly put that to rest.

Natural gas forward prices picked up a few cents on average between June 10 and 16 despite what some market insiders pegged as a bearish storage report, according to NGI Forward Look.

Natural gas futures slumped Thursday morning after the Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported a storage injection for the week ending May 20 that was somewhat greater than what the market was expecting.

Spot natural gas for delivery Wednesday moved little in Tuesday’s trading as moderate strength in the Gulf, Midcontinent, and Midwest was mostly able to offset weakness at eastern points. The NGI National Spot Gas Average rose 2 cents to $1.90.
