Magnum Hunter Resources Inc. recently reported that Matthew C. Lutz, chairman and executive vice president of the company, will retire and resign from his positions effective September 1. Lutz will remain a board member of Magnum Hunter and will continue to be actively involved in certain projects with the CEO, the company added. Lutz originally joined the predecessor of Magnum Hunter — Hunter Resources Inc. in 1993. He has served as chairman since March 1997 and executive vice president since 1995. He previously served as vice chairman from December 1995 to March 1997.

The board of directors of Foothills Pipe Lines Ltd. has announced the appointment of John Ellwood as the company’s executive vice president and COO. The company said Ellwood will assume full-time leadership of the joint venture company (held equally by Westcoast Energy Inc. and TransCanada PipeLines Ltd.). He will report directly to an executive committee of the board of directors. “John will assume leadership for the Prebuild assets and operations and will continue with his responsibility for the completion of the Alaska Natural Gas Transportation System (ANGTS),” said Dennis McConaghy, Co-CEO of Foothills and an executive vice president with TransCanada. Foothills’ Alaska Highway Pipeline Project is designed to move gas from Prudhoe Bay in Alaska to the Lower 48 states.
