Oklahoma is suing two natural gas marketers over alleged market manipulation and price gouging during Winter Storm Uri in February 2021.

The deep freeze wreaked havoc on natural gas and electricity supply in the South Central United States, particularly Texas and Oklahoma, causing prolonged energy outages and extreme price spikes.

Rather than taking measures to ensure reliable supply for homes and businesses ahead of the cold weather event, Symmetry Energy Solutions LLC and affiliates of Enable Midstream Partners LP sought to artificially inflate gas prices, according to lawsuits filed in Osage County District Court by Oklahoma’s Republican Attorney General (AG) Gentner Drummond. Enable has since been acquired by Energy Transfer LP.
