The New York State Public Service Commission approved anapplication by Empire State Pipeline to construct a newinterconnection with CNG Transmission Corp. facilities in OnondagaCounty, NY.

Located near the town of Lysander, the $2.2 millioninterconnection will consist of a 12-inch pipeline plus associatedmetering facilities. Empire will build and own the interconnection,which has a maximum design capacity of 100 MMcf/d.

“This new interconnection will benefit Empire shippers byproviding additional gas supply and delivery alternatives througheconomical access to the strategically located Leidy, PA, markethub as well as Mid-Atlantic markets and other points on the CNGsystem,” said Richard A. Lietz, chairman of Empire’s managementcommittee and executive vice president of ANR Pipeline Co.

“We are pleased to be working with Empire on this newinterconnect, said Paul Koonce, senior vice president, commercialoperations, of CNG Regulated Businesses. “This project isconsistent with our efforts to expand choices for our customers andmaximize the use of the existing northeast infrastructure.”

Owned by subsidiaries of The Coastal Corp.’s American NaturalResources Co. and Westcoast Energy Inc.’s St. Clair Pipelines Inc.,Empire State Pipeline is a New York intrastate facility that beganoperation in November 1993. ANR Pipeline serves as operator for theEmpire State Pipeline, which extends from Buffalo to Syracuse, NY.
