Coastal’s Empire State Pipeline and CNG Transmission Corp.jointly announced the start of service at a new interconnectionnear the town of Lysander, NY yesterday.

Located in Onondaga County, NY, the $2.2 million interconnectionconsists of a 12-inch diameter pipeline plus associated meteringfacilities, which Empire constructed and owns. The New York StatePublic Service Commission approved construction of Empire’s newfacilities last fall (see Daily GPI, Sept. 10) and it was placed in-service onFeb. 1. The interconnection has a design capacity of 100 MMcf/d.

“Empire shippers will benefit from this new interconnectionbecause it offers them additional supply and delivery options,”said Richard A. Lietz, chairman of Empire’s management committee.”It provides cost-effective access to the strategically locatedmarket hub in Leidy, Pa., as well as mid-Atlantic markets and otherpoints on the CNG system.”
