Energy East Enterprises (EEE) subsidiary Seneca Lake Storage, Inc. (SLSI) has filed plans with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for a high-deliverability natural gas storage facility in depleted salt caverns in the Town of Reading, NY. Energy East Enterprises is a unit of Energy East Corp.

The storage facility will be linked to the Columbia Gas Transmission and Dominion Transmission interstate pipelines to supply firm and interruptible storage services at market-based rates. SLSI expects to begin operating the facility in November 2002. It will have a projected working gas capacity of 300,000 Dth and will be capable of delivering up to 50,000 dth/d.

An open season to accept non-binding requests for firm storage service from the SLSI facility began Sept. 1 and will continue through Sept. 30. The open season will be provided on a non-discriminatory, open access basis. Open season bid packages and additional information are available from George Bonner, EEE president, at (607) 721-1748.
