XTO Fined in Pennsylvania Clean Water Act Settlement

ExxonMobil Corp. subsidiary XTO Energy Inc. will pay a $100,000 penalty and spend an estimated $20 million on a plan to improve wastewater management practices following a settlement with federal authorities to resolve an alleged violation of the Clean Water Act related to the discharge of hydraulic fracturing wastewater at a Lycoming County, PA, facility.

Atlas Buying Raton, Black Warrior, Arkoma Basin Assets

Atlas Energy LP (ATLS) exploration and production (E&P) subsidiary Atlas Resource Partners LP (ARP) is buying 466 Bcf of natural gas proved reserves in the Raton (New Mexico) and Black Warrior (Alabama) basins from EP Energy E&P Co. LP (EP Energy), a unit of EP Energy LLC, for $733 million.

Jeff Shellebarger, 56, will take over as president of Chevron Corp. subsidiary Chevron North America Exploration and Production Co. on Aug. 1. Gary Luquette has helmed the unit since 2006, but he is retiring after 35 years. To help with the transition, Luquette plans to remain at Chevron until Sept. 1. Shellebarger joined Chevron in 1980 and now manages the IndoAsia business unit. As president of North America operations, Shellebarger would oversee exploration and production activity across all of the producer’s assets in the United States and Canada.
