Chesapeake Utilities Corp.’s propane distribution subsidiary,Sharp Energy, opened a new type of retail energy store in Dover,DE. The Delmarva, DE-based gas and propane distributor will unveilits Sharp Living by Chesapeake store Oct. 2.

“We are very excited about introducing a new concept in naturalgas and propane gas retailing,” said Philip Barefoot, Chesapeakevice president of marketing. “The 3,000-square-foot store willfeature fully operational gas energy living areas includingkitchens, family living rooms, a patio and a utility room. Webelieve our customers will easily see this isn’t just anotherappliance store. We’ve included all of the latest in-home gadgetswith over 600 different items to choose from.”

Brand name propane and gas appliances operating in the displayareas will include Maytag laundry products; Jenn-Air, Maytag andMagic Chef ranges and refrigerators; Ducane, Broilmaster andSunshine gas grills; Regency hearth products; Ecowater waterconditioning products, as well as hundreds of small specialtyproducts. The store will serve as a customer service and paymentcenter for Sharp Energy, Chesapeake Utilities and Sharp Water.

Chesapeake’s three gas distribution divisions serve 38,000residential, commercial and industrial customers throughout centraland southern Delaware, Maryland’s Eastern Shore and centralFlorida. The company’s propane segment, Sharp Energy, serves 35,300customers in central and southern Delaware and the Eastern Shoreregion of Maryland and Virginia.
