Australian labor unions have called off strike action at the Gorgon and Wheatstone LNG terminals after members gave initial approval for an agreement with Chevron Corp.

Union members at Chevron operated liquefied natural gas terminals and offshore platforms had previously planned to start work stoppages as soon as Thursday after accusing Chevron of reneging on a previous agreement. Chevron disclosed last month it planned to offer union members terms from a deal brokered by Australia’s Fair Work Commission.

The Offshore Alliance, a coalition of unions representing Australia’s offshore natural gas and oil workers, said Tuesday that workers had agreed to pause strike actions and were recommending workers vote to confirm Chevron’s offers.
