TransCanada reported experiencing a mainline rupture Saturday upstream of Station 112 in Ontario. The pipeline said it had isolated the affected section, but did not anticipate any capacity restrictions as a result of the event.

The break occurred in a rural area about 37 miles (60 km) north of North Bay, ON, according to TransCanada spokesman James Millar. It caused no injuries, and the only aboveground damage was to several trees in the vicinity, he said.

The ruptured 30-inch line was one of three parallel lines in the area, and gas was being rerouted through one of the other lines, Millar said. The company did not know what caused the rupture, but is conducting an investigation in conjunction with Canada’s National Energy Board and the National Transportation Safety Board, he added.
