ConocoPhillips, Oxy to Defer Gas Drilling
ConocoPhillips last week said it would shut in about 100 MMcf/d in North America and doesn’t anticipate spending heavily on new natural gas drilling this year. Occidental Petroleum Corp. (Oxy) also intends to cut its gas output and defer onshore drilling because prices continue to be “horrible,” CEO Stephen Chazen said.
Wells Fargo Tweaks Ethane Outlook
Wells Fargo analysts trimmed their peak ethane oversupply estimates by nearly 100,000 b/d based on a couple of factors, but they “continue to anticipate a period of ethane pricing weakness beginning in 2013 and persisting for several years until new world-scale ethylene crackers are placed into service,” they said in a note Monday.
Hefty EIA Storage Builds Expected; November Drops
November futures plunged Wednesday as traders anticipate an inventory report to not only show additions to storage well above historical averages, but also surpass the record for October. At the close November had dropped 12.7 cents to $3.489 and December had shed 6.8 cents to $3.791. November crude oil fell 24 cents to $85.57/bbl.
Transportation Notes
Gulf South Pipeline will be performing compressor maintenance on the Destin compressor station unit beginning at 8:00 a.m. on May 25 and continuing for approximately 60 hours, but the pipeline does not anticipate any impact to shippers.
