Propane exports from Canada to overseas markets jumped by 19% in 2020, with international sales poised to increase again this year, according to the Canada Energy Regulator (CER).

A terminal location on the northern Pacific coast of British Columbia (BC) at Prince Rupert lived up to expectations of giving a competitive advantage to the Alberta-based pioneers of marine propane, AltaGas Ltd. and Vopak Pacific Canada Inc.

Meanwhile, Alberta-based Pembina Pipeline Corp. has set a spring target date for completing a C$250 million ($188 million) second Canadian export terminal for the natural gas byproduct near Prince Rupert. Initial capacity is to be 25,000 b/d.
