Williams’ Mid-America Pipeline subsidiary completed a 412-milepipeline that adds 45,000 b/d of capacity to its gas liquidspipeline system coming out of the Rockies. Line-fill and pipelinestart-up operations were completed Nov. 14.

About 20 gas processing plants in Wyoming, Utah and Coloradofeed liquids into the pipeline system for delivery to destinationsin Mexico, the Midwest and the Texas Gulf Coast.

“The new pipeline complements our growth in the Rockies,” saidRoy Edwards, vice president of gas liquids transportation. “Severalprocessing plants in the region, like our own in Opal, WY, andIgnacio, CO, are expanding or have already expanded their liquidrecovery processes. Williams also recently purchased some gasproperties in Wyoming’s Jonah Field that are increasing liquidsvolumes (see Daily GPI April 16). These expansions and developmentsrequire more transportation capacity on the Mid-America system todeliver the liquids to demand centers such as Mont Belvieu, TX.”

The new segment of line uses a combination of 10-, 12- and16-inch pipe, extending from northeast Utah to near Bloomfield, NM.Construction began in November 1998 and wrapped up this pastOctober. This is the second major expansion on the system in thepast five years. A 400-mile expansion was added in New Mexicoduring 1994 and 1995.
