Looking to open up a new corridor for stranded natural gas supply in the wake of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Williams-operated Discovery Gas Transmission LLC announced Monday it is holding its second expedited open season this month for limited-term firm transportation service on the Discovery pipeline system.

Discovery Gas plans to make up to 250,000 Dth of additional capacity available via an existing interconnection to Tennessee Gas Pipeline’s Line 500 in Terrebonne Parish, LA.

The company said the action is designed to modify the pipe’s existing delivery point with the Tennessee system to receive natural gas, providing an alternate outlet for natural gas that has been stranded following damage to third-party facilities during hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The open season, which began Monday, will run through 5 p.m. Central on Monday, Oct. 31. Interested shippers may contact Kevin Rehm at (713) 215-2694 or Asa Roberts at (713) 215-3078 to obtain a copy of the transportation services agreement.

Discovery Gas said the primary term for the service will be one year or until certain processing facilities return to service, whichever occurs first. Service will be performed under Discovery’s existing FT-2 rate schedule. More information and details are available at https://www.discovery.williamsenergy.com .

A unit of Williams operates Discovery Gas Transmission LLC and Discovery Producer Services LLC. Discovery is jointly owned by three parties — The Williams Companies Inc., Duke Energy Field Services LP and Williams Partners LP.
