The United States exported 1.03 Tcf of LNG during the first quarter to 34 countries in 324 tanker cargoes and 85 container loads, leading the North American natural gas trade, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

The Office of Regulation, Analysis and Engagement, Division of Natural Gas Regulation issued its 1Q2023 report earlier this month on North American gas import and export activities. Companies are required to file monthly reports, per their authorizations.

After nearly a decade of growth, the United States stood out as the North American champion of the international and continental gas trade. Total U.S. gas exports were 1.82 Tcf, or 20.3 Bcf/d, up from a year earlier by 1.8%, when they were 1.79 Bcf, or 19.9 Bcf/d.
