Sonat said the offshore Main Pass 72 receipt point was shut in due to a leak on a third-party pipeline between the platform and Sonat’s line. A crew was on-site Friday to investigate the leak. Due to this work, Sonat was not scheduling gas from the point effective with Friday’s evening cycle until further notice.

Although it was able to restore full processing capacity last Wednesday afternoon at the McMahon Gas Plant following a force majeure event (see Daily GPI, Jan. 18), Westcoast said it must restrict capacity again today and Wednesday. The problem last week with a monoethanol amine (MEA) foaming agent was worst on processing train 3, so it treated that area first. But the MEA contactors on train 1 must be acid washed this week, causing normal raw gas stripping capacity of 630 MMcf/d to be reduced to 500 MMcf/d until Thursday.

Noting that the Lake LaRose Receiving Station was shut in Dec. 21 due to non-conformance with the pipeline’s gas quality specifications, Sonat began accepting nominations there again for the intraday 2 cycle of Friday’s gas day.
