Tennessee Seeks to Place Entire Northeast Project in Service
Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. Monday sought authorization to place the remaining portion of its Northeast Supply Diversification (NSD) Project in service on Nov. 1. The request came only days after the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the start-up of a portion of the NSD facilities to provide service to three shippers beginning Oct. 1 (see Shale Daily, Sept. 24).
FERC OKS Interim Service on Tennessee Marcellus Project
Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. got the go-ahead from FERC Thursday to start up facilities that will enable it to provide interim firm transportation service to three shippers on its Northeast Supply Diversification (NSD) Project beginning Oct. 1, one month ahead of the in-service date for the entire project.
Transco Expansion Targets Marcellus Gas, Southeastern Demand
Williams Partners LP is holding a nonbinding open season through June 28 for expansion of its Transco pipeline to provide incremental firm service to markets in northern Georgia and Alabama by 2016.
Williams Looks to Expand in Marcellus
Tulsa-based Williams Partner LP is negotiating to buy Delphi Midstream Partners LLC, which among other things would give the natural gas operator ownership of the Laser Gathering System and other facilities that serve the Marcellus Shale.

Shell Targeting Marcellus Gas with Ethylene Cracker
Royal Dutch Shell said Monday it is planning to build a “world-scale” ethylene cracker with integrated derivative units in the Marcellus Shale in Appalachia. The cracker would process ethane from Marcellus natural gas to produce ethylene, one of the primary building blocks for petrochemicals.
Local Congresswoman, San Bruno Residents Give CPUC Earful
In receipt of a local congresswoman’s letter with 14 specific suggestions related to natural gas pipeline safety, California regulators sat through a four-hour public hearing Tuesday night listening to residents recall in terrifying detail their experiences last Sept. 9 when a Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) gas transmission pipeline erupted in an explosion and fire that killed eight people and devastated a quiet residential neighborhood in San Bruno, CA, south of San Francisco.

With shipper contracts expiring in 2015, Alliance Pipeline Ltd. plans to develop receipt and short-haul services that take advantage of the pipeline’s location near developing gas shale plays in British Columbia and North Dakota, Alliance said. The new offerings will complement the pipeline’s “bullet line” service from Western Canada to Chicago, as well as provide hub services such as the Natural Gas Exchange and the Alliance Chicago Exchange project.
