Tennessee Gas had a systemwide operational flow order balancing alert in place on Friday. The pipeline said it experienced significant supply losses as a result of Hurricane Rita, totaling 900,000 Dth on the 800 line and 500 line, not including the 650,000 Dth that has remained shut in as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Inlet valves at the Grand Chenier Plant, Johnson Bayou Plant and Sabine Plant on the 800 line remain shut in. Tennessee also has sustained production losses of 400,000 Dth on the 100 line due to Hurricane Rita. In addition, due to evacuations, Station 25 in Cleveland, TX and Station 32 in Jasper, TX are unavailable. However, with the reduced throughput on the 100, this should not impact current scheduled quantities, the company said.

El Paso Natural Gas issued a strained operation condition warning. Through a combination of receipt underperformance and takes in excess of nomination, El Paso’s transmission system was drafted by over 340 MMcf for gas day Sept. 19, the company said. Washington Ranch storage is on withdrawal at maximum capacity. Even so, system linepack dropped by more than 200 MMcf for gas day Sept. 19. Shippers are urged to bring their supplies in balance with their takes. The transmission system is “fully loaded with scheduled transportation from north system to south system,” El Paso said. Capacity is available from Keystone and Waha. Those shippers owing gas to EPNG can make arrangements to pay gas back. If the situation fails to improve, a declaration of strained operating conditions may be required.

El Paso also said that ongoing maintenance at Navajo Station is reducing the capacity of the North Mainline at Window Rock through Oct. 3. For more details see El Paso’ bulletin board.

Trunkline said that based on the projected path of Rita, compression at the Kountz compressor station will not be available. Therefore, nominations through the Kountz segment were limited to 260 MMcf/d, beginning Friday.

On Friday, a recoating crew discovered a small leak on Northwest Pipeline’s 26-inch diameter mainline near the Pleasant View compressor station. A temporary repair has been made but due to the location of the leak, a permanent repair must be made as soon as possible. Northwest said it will cut out and replace the affected section of pipe on Tuesday, Sept. 27. During the repair there will be no flow through the mainline, and Northwest must cut nominations to zero at the Pleasant View compressor station. The repair is expected to take 24 hours to complete. If nominations at Pleasant View are greater than zero during the outage, NWP will declare a deficiency period and cut nominations to zero.

Florida Gas Transmission declared an overage alert day with a 15% tolerance Friday. Rita was causing reductions in receipt volumes, and warm weather is forecasted in Florida.

Southern Natural said it has decided to abandon its 10-inch diameter Patterson field line in southwestern Louisiana on its west leg sometime next year. Firm receipt point holders on the line have consented to release their rights to the firm capacity associated with the line, Southern said.

Duke Energy said the Egan and Moss Buff storage facilities were shut-in Friday. Nominations will not be accepted until further notice.
