Northern Natural Gas (NNG) declared a System Overrun Limitation for all delivery points east of the Belleville (WI) Compressor Station for Friday’s gas day, citing operational conditions that may hinder its ability to serve firm obligations at the affected points. A spokesman explained that the SOL was called due to customer overtakes that were causing pipeline pressures to drop east of Belleville. The System Management Service percentage, which normally allows some leeway for overtakes in the absence of an SOL, will be zero for all points east of Belleville. Also, due to operational conditions, NNG was not accepting nominations to increase deliveries to the affected delivery points during the final 8 a.m. nomination process for Friday flows.

NNG-operated Matagorda Offshore Pipeline System (MOPS) off the Texas coast reported detecting a potential leak on the 24-inch mainline. Repair crews were en route Thursday to investigate and make repairs if necessary. MOPS said a total of 23 receipt points and nine delivery points have the potential to be taken to zero flow if the leak is confirmed. “We’re not sure if the leak is on MOPS or not, but we’re mobilizing resources to find out,” the NNG spokesman said at mid-afternoon Thursday. “Nothing is being shut in yet.”

Apparently a gas quality issue has been resolved at Columbia Gulf‘s Egan Hub Storage facility. After announcing Wednesday it would not be accepting any nominations at the South Louisiana facility effective Friday until further notice due to the quality issue (see Daily GPI, Aug. 4), Columbia Gulf reversed field Thursday and said it will accept Egan nominations up to 200,000 Dth/d.

Southern Natural Gas said it is performing maintenance at the Transco-Frost Meter Station in Livingston Parish LA and will not accept nominations there until the work has been completed. Based on its best available information, Southern anticipates that the station will return to service around Aug. 25.

Pursuant to compliance with FERC Order 587-S, Great Lakes Gas Transmission on Thursday joined NGPL and Transco in saying it will begin posting gas quality information on its website bulletin board starting Sept. 1 (see Daily GPI, Aug. 3). Great Lakes said it has determined that the Emerson, Fortune Lake and St. Clair interconnection points accurately represent mainline gas flows through its Western, Central and Eastern zones respectively.
