Canada’s top natural gas producer, Tourmaline Oil Corp., scored a 75-fold leap in third quarter profits while making a start to sharply reduce methane emissions.

The company said two months ago it would accelerate drilling in the gassy Montney Shale as prices were climbing. 

Production during 3Q2021 averaged 2.1 Bcf/d, compared with 1.4 Bcf/d in 3Q2020. Liquids production surged to 93,743 b/d from 62,538 b/d. Current production overall is 485,000-490,000 boe/d, and the company expects to exit 2021 with output of around 500,000 boe/d.
