Gulf Coast Lawmakers Seek Fair Share of Offshore Royalties

Six Gulf Coast senators have introduced a bipartisan measure that calls for the federal government and the coastal states of Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi to equally share the oil and natural gas revenues generated from additional leasing in the gas-rich area known as Lease Sale 181 in the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

BLM Allows Jonah Infill Drilling; EnCana to Fund New Mitigation, Monitoring Office

Up to 3,100 new gas wells will be allowed under a new infill drilling plan approved by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for the Jonah Field in south-central Sublette County, WY. Operators EnCana Corp., McMurray Oil and BP America estimate that the energy project could provide 8 Tcf of additional natural gas production.

Aussie’s Woodside Proposes Ship-to-Shore LNG Delivery at LAX

After talking with state and utility officials, Australian-based Woodside Natural Gas Inc. Wednesday unveiled more details on its plans to use liquefied natural gas (LNG) ships with onboard regasification facilities to deliver offshore pipeline gas supplies to California at a proposed undersea and underground connection along the coastal fringe that is part of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

CA Lands Commission Releases Draft EIR, Sets Hearings on Billiton LNG Project

The lead state agency, the California Lands Commission, Tuesday released a revised draft environmental impact report (EIR) and set three hearings next month on Australian resources giant BHP Billiton’s proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal 22 miles off the Southern California coast from Oxnard, CA. Hearings will be held in three separate cities April 17-19.

Petro Canada Moves Step Closer to Bringing Russian LNG to Quebec

The proposed Gros-Cacouna liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Quebec got a much-needed boost Tuesday as project sponsor Petro-Canada reached an agreement with Russia’s Gazprom to proceed with initial engineering design for a $1.5 billion Baltic gas liquefaction plant near St. Petersburg, Russia.

Oregon LNG Proposal Gets Land Lease

A liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal in Oregon received a boost last week when the Port of St. Helens along the lower Columbia River approved a 99-year lease on 145 acres in Clackamas County for the proposed Port Westward LNG project. Some of the that private investors were ready to pull the plug on the proposed 700 MMcf/d capacity terminal last month when negotiations with a private landowner broke down.
