Shipper Coalition Wants FERC to Require More Rate-Specific Data from Pipes

A broad natural gas industry coalition said last Thursday it supports FERC’s final rule imposing new quarterly financial reporting requirements on regulated gas pipelines, as well as electric companies and oil pipelines, but it believes the rule needs to go farther.

Denbury Wants to Sell GOM Operations

Dallas-based Denbury Resources Inc. has retained Credit Suisse First Boston to sell its natural gas-rich offshore operations in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM), which up to now have been the company’s secondary focus. The company targeted June 2004 to complete the sale.

Louisiana’s Governor Wants Federal Action on Natural Gas Prices

With 1,000 Louisiana chemical plant jobs lost in 2003 alone, Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco last Monday called on the nation’s governors to press the federal government to form a “coordinated response” to historically high natural gas prices. At the same, top energy lawmakers engaged in a war of words in a Capitol Hill newspaper over the fate of the stalled Senate energy bill.

Seven Massachusetts’ Democrats have called on the federal government to place Boston Harbor and Everett, MA, on high security alert (Orange Level) whenever liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers enter the harbor to be offloaded at the Distrigas import terminal.
