Rep. Richard Pombo (R-CA) has asked FERC to identify any examples where the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) has interfered with boosting supplies of natural gas to the Northeast, at the same time a pipeline association urged legislation to streamline CZMA processes.

A broad natural gas industry coalition said last Thursday it supports FERC’s final rule imposing new quarterly financial reporting requirements on regulated gas pipelines, as well as electric companies and oil pipelines, but it believes the rule needs to go farther.

Dallas-based Denbury Resources Inc. has retained Credit Suisse First Boston to sell its natural gas-rich offshore operations in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM), which up to now have been the company’s secondary focus. The company targeted June 2004 to complete the sale.
