Caminus Corp., headquartered in New York City, has completed itsacquisition of Houston-based Nucleus Corp. of Texas for $19.6million, consisting of $13.7 million in cash, 261,334 newly issuedshare of common stock of Caminus and stock options. Caminussupplies software systems for trading and risk management innatural gas and electric power throughout North America and Europe.Nucleus supplies software systems for energy trading in NorthAmerica.

Transportation Notes

NGPL said it is completing all work on the offshore Texas HighIsland Block 71 Lateral and the line will become available for serviceagain today. A leak was discovered Aug. 16 and about 50 MMcf/d ofproduction from three receipt points was scheduled to zero effectiveAug. 18 (see Daily GPI, Aug. 23). NGPLwill begin scheduling gas for the High Island 71 (Torch) and HighIsland 116 (Vasgas) wells today. However, the High Island 139 (Sonat)well has been disconnected and is under evaluation at this time, sountil further notice the pipeline will not schedule gas there.

Transportation Notes

NGPL discovered a leak Monday on its HI [High Island] Block 71Lateral offshore southeastern Texas. Three platforms (High IslandBlocks 71, 139 and 116) with scheduled nominations through thelateral were shut on Tuesday until further notice. Shippers will benotified via NGPL’s bulletin board when nominations may be resumed.

TXU Told to Remove Poly 1 Pipe by December

The Texas Railroad Commission last week voted to approve toughpipeline safety proposals that include targeting one of the largestutilities in the state – TXU Energy. The TRC voted unanimously torequire TXU to have all segments of its polyethylene 1 pipe out ofthe ground by December.

Pro-Rata Capacity Compensation Upheld on Tetco

FERC last week upheld its previous orders accepting TexasEastern Transmission’s tariff provisions that require emergencyshippers, such as hospitals, to reimburse non-emergency shippersjust for the loss of firm transportation capacity — not the lossof gas supply — stemming from pro-rata curtailments.

Texas Eastern plans minor maintenance for a few hours Thursdaymorning at the Grand Chenier (LA) Station. Operators may experiencehigher than normal pressures on the West Louisiana zone’s CameronSystem, but pressures are expected to return to normal by evening.

Transportation Notes

Affiliated pipelines Texas Eastern and Algonquin notified shippersTuesday evening that OFOs (or a Critical System Warning in Algonquin’scase) similar to those canceled Monday (see Daily GPI, Jan. 25) would go into effect later thatnight. As before, the OFOs require uniform hourly deliveries in themarket area and carry other restrictions such as no acceptance ofdue-shipper imbalance nominations. Effective today Algonquin isallowing only Primary Firm services through its Cromwell (CT)Compressor Station.
