CIG Holds Open Seasons for North Mainline Capacity, Expansion

Colorado Interstate Gas (CIG) is holding three open seasons to test market interest in existing transportation capacity in Wyoming, capacity from a proposed interconnection with Overthrust Pipeline near Kanda, WY, and a proposed expansion of the CIG mainline from Opal, WY, to the Tomahawk interconnection with Kinder Morgan’s Trailblazer pipeline system.

Summertime (Heat), And the Prices Are Rising

Summer officially began early Tuesday morning, and it’s highly unlikely that many people will be mistaking it for any other seasons. Actually it will be feeling more like typical midsummer heat throughout much of the U.S. Tuesday, and the big boost in power generation load, aided and abetted by residual screen strength from late last week, sent cash prices higher by double-digit amounts in most cases Monday.

FERC has set Dec. 3 for a technical conference in Anchorage, AK on its proposed regulations governing the conduct of open seasons for the Alaska Natural Gas Transportation System. The Commission’s action comes after President Bush signed into law last month a bill that provides for an $18 billion federal loan guarantee for the construction of the remaining 1,600 miles of the project. FERC expects to issue a proposed rule by about Nov. 18. The public would have until Dec. 17 to comment on FERC’s notice of proposed rulemaking. The law requires FERC to complete the regulations by Feb. 10, 2005.

Transportation Notes

Northern Natural Gas has two firm capacity open seasonsupcoming. One, scheduled July 26-27, is for 20,000 MMBtu/d tocertain delivery points in Zone ABC. The space will be awarded infour separate 10,000 MMBtu/d packages: one each for the months ofAugust, September and October 2000 and a fourth for the entirethree-month period. The other open season, set for July 31-Aug. 3,is for 15,000 MMBtu/d to certain delivery points in Zone EF for theOctober 2000 through April 2001 period. This volume is subject tocertain constraints.
