The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission set its seal, pending environmental review, on another westward-bound pipeline project Wednesday. The North Baja Pipeline will carry up to 500 MMcf/d from a connection with El Paso Natural Gas near Ehrenberg, AZ to fuel power plants and gas distribution systems in Northern Mexico and Southern California.

Anadarko and Union Pacific Resources (UPR) closed their $5.7billion merger transaction on Friday successfully. Shareholders ofboth companies gave the thumbs-up on the deal on July 13, and bythe end of business on Friday each UPR share received 0.455 sharesof Anadarko common stock.

Tennessee lifted a pro rata seal through Secondary Services atthe Transco Rivervale meter Wednesday but replaced it with asimilar one at the Algonquin Mendon meter.

FERC last week gave its seal of approval to the $6.4 billionmarriage of two major northeastern utilities — Energy East Corp.,parent of New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG), and CMP Group,parent of Central Maine Power — putting them clearly on the pathto becoming a major force in the Northeast energy market.

Devon Energy Corp. and PennzEnergy Co. completed their merger,which was announced May 20. Shareholders of both companies approvedthe deal Tuesday. More than 99% of the shares represented at theDevon meeting were cast in favor of the merger. Of the sharesrepresented at the PennzEnergy meeting, about 92% were cast infavor of the merger.
