Court Rejects Attempt to Block Drilling in Pinedale Anticline

A federal appeals court in Washington, DC, in affirming a lower court’s ruling, put its seal of approval on the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) 2008 and 2000 records of decision (ROD) allowing more drilling in the Pinedale Anticline Project Area (PAPA) of western Wyoming.

Fueling Firm Cool Toward Georgia NGV Plan

Seal Beach, CA-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. said Wednesday it remains skeptical of plans for a more robust gas transportation fueling network that were approved by the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC). The regulators went against a staff recommendation, opening some of the network to individual consumers with compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles.

Seal Beach, CA-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. pushed ahead in three states with new natural gas fueling infrastructure. As part of an ongoing partnership, Clean Energy is spreading the use of compressed natural gas (CNG), operating and maintaining 14 fueling stations in upstate New York to support the 450-vehicle fleet of utility operator National Grid. In Connecticut, Clean Energy opened a station in West Haven at the headquarters of Metro Taxi, Connecticut’s largest full-service taxicab company. By the end of this year the taxi operator expects to have 110 CNG cabs in its fleet. And in Illinois, Clean Energy is working with Peoria Disposal Co., the city’s residential waste and recycling hauler, to build another CNG commercial fueling station in the city of Peoria. The station will serve as headquarters for 12 new CNG-powered trucks operated by the waste hauling firm.

Push for NAT GAS Act Pumps Up Volume

With its own strategic business interest at stake, Seal Beach, CA-based Clean Energy Fuels Inc. attempted to make the case Friday for American business supporting national legislation to help boost the use of natural gas as a transportation fuel. Clean Energy’s founder, T. Boone Pickens, is a big backer of the proposed legislation known as NAT GAS Act (see Daily GPI, April 21).

Seal Beach, CA-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. has signed a contract with a major Indiana-based milk producer to build and operate a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station for 42 delivery trucks serving portions of Indiana, Tennessee and Kentucky. Fair Oaks Dairy’s unit, Renewable Dairy Fuels, worked out the deal with Clean Energy to establish and run the facility for dispensing CNG for milk-hauling trucks the dairy plans to use; the facility will also have public access. The CNG-powered trucks are scheduled to replace diesel-powered models now being used. The facility, which is scheduled to open in northern Indiana this fall, will have public access; a second facility is planned in southern Indiana. Renewable Dairy Fuels has indicated that it plans to produce biomethane from dairy cattle waste and pipe the biogas directly to the Fair Oaks station for onsite conversion to CNG vehicle fuel by Clean Energy.

Major New CNG/LNG Fueling Station Set for Dallas

Seal Beach, CA-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. announced last Friday it has a contract with a Dallas-based national truck fleet operator, Dillon Transport, to build, operate and supply fuel to a natural gas fueling station on Dillon’s property in Dallas. It will provide both liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) for transportation use.

Seal Beach, CA-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. announced that a major manufacturer of steel service truck bodies, Knapheide Manufacturing Co., has selected Clean Energy’s BAF Technologies Inc. subsidiary to be its exclusive provider of after-market compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel systems for light-duty Ford trucks. BAF will provide its proprietary CNG fuel systems for use in the Knapheide-configured trucks, primarily F-350 and F-450 models, a Clean Energy spokesperson said. Quincy, IL-based Knapheide calls itself the leading producer of steel service truck bodies in the nation; BAF bills itself as the nation’s leading provider of natural gas transportation fueling systems.

SoCal LNG Facility Key to Natural Gas Trucking Market

United Parcel Service (UPS) has called on the backing of Seal Beach, CA-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. for its fuel and fueling system. To fuel UPS, the T. Boone Pickens-founded supplier of compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) for transportation relies on a liquefaction facility it operates in the western edge of Southern California’s Mojave Desert near Boron, CA.

New Jersey CNG Fueling Capability to Expand

An Atlantic City, NJ, shuttle bus service used by residents and millions of visitors annually has signed a contract to have Seal Beach, CA-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. build and operate a fast-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station in Egg Harbor Township.
