A coalition of environmental groups led by the Sierra Club filed a rehearing request Thursday challenging FERC’s recent certificate approving the Nexus Gas Transmission natural gas pipeline and related projects.

FERC on Monday authorized Sabal Trail Transmission LLC to place more of the natural gas project’s Phase 1 facilities into service, increasing its total capacity to 830,000 Dth/d.

Sabal Trail Transmission LLC is seeking FERC authorization to place part of its 1.07 million Dth/d pipeline into service by the end of this month.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on Thursday cleared Energy Transfer Equity LP’s (ETE) proposed acquisition of The Williams Companies Inc. (WMB) and specified assets to be divested.

Williams Partners LP said Friday it expects to begin construction soon on its Hillabee Expansion Project, which would add capacity to the Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line (Transco) system in three phases in order to serve Florida demand via the Sabal Trail Transmission project.

Upon consideration of revised and additional data, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has taken back its criticism of the Sabal Trail Pipeline, a project of Spectra Energy Corp. and NextEra Energy Inc.

The Sabal Trail pipeline project scored a regulatory victory last Friday when an administrative law judge (ALJ) recommended that Florida regulators approve a permit for the pipeline over the objection of environmentalists.
