Sonat reported an unscheduled outage on Logansport Field Line 43 upstream of Logansport Compressor Station in the North Louisiana production area. As a result of the force majeure event, the pipeline said, no nominations from the Logansport Oxy R/S 4 receipt point were being accepted Friday until further notice.

Berry Petroleum Co. has completed its $48.6 million purchase of Uinta Basin properties from Williams Production RMT Co. The properties, located in the Brundage Canyon in northeastern Utah, currently are producing 1,800 net boe/d. Berry estimates the 43,500 acres have proved reserves of 8.6 million boe, comprised of 75% light oil and 25% natural gas. The company said it had identified more than 50 proved undeveloped locations and 25 behind pipe recompletions within the productive area of the field. The Bakersfield, CA-based independent also announced that Logan Magruder has joined the company as vice president of the Rocky Mountain and Mid-Continent Region. Magruder held similar positions with Calpine Corp. and Barrett Resources, and has served as a consultant for Berry since Feb. 2003.

Transportation Notes

Columbia Gas plans will begin Wednesday a rotating shut-in of interrruptible production that will continue through the summer at the A05-Delmont aggregation point in the southern part of Market Area 36. This is due to excessive line pressure resulting from decreased market requirements, the pipeline said. Columbia’s field personnel will notify affected producers.

East Softens; Rockies, SJB Spike on Production Outage

As NGI sources had suspected the day before, the cash market couldn’t keep rising indefinitely without visible means of support. Sure enough, eastern prices finally reacted Thursday to the one-two punch of weakening futures and only a modicum of weather-related demand by registering declines that were mostly in the vicinity of a dime but ranged from about a nickel to a little more than 20 cents.

Canadian Superior, El Paso Team Up Again to Find Nova Scotia Gas

Independent producer Canadian Superior Energy Inc. said last Wednesday El Paso Corp.’s Canadian production subsidiary has agreed to join in developing and drilling its Mariner natural gas prospect offshore Nova Scotia, which is believed to hold potential reserves of more than 1 Tcf. This marks the second time the two producers have teamed up in the region.

The Atwater Valley 349 No. 1 well is the first well drilled in Anadarko’s Eastern Gulf of Mexico exploration program.
