Crystal LNG Offshore CA Proposal Seeks Conditional Alaskan Deal

A Texas-based privately financed effort to bring Alaskan gas supplies in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to a converted offshore oil platform off the Southern California coast is pushing for a conditional contract with the Alaska Gasline Port Authority (AGPA), according to William O. Perkins III, president of Houston-based Crystal Energy, LLC, who returned Wednesday from recent discussions with Alaskan officials.

Two CA LNG Receiving Terminals Seek Federal, Local Approvals

Two West Coast liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects moved forward last week. Privately held Crystal Energy LLC of Houston announced Wednesday that it signed a preliminary agreement for Alaskan LNG supplies and will be filing an application with U.S. Coast Guard to transform an existing offshore oil platform along the Southern California coast into an LNG receiving terminal, and Mitsubishi Corp.’s U.S. subsidiary, Sound Energy Solutions (SES), last Monday filed at FERC seeking an environmental impact report on its proposed receiving terminal in Long Beach Harbor.

Atmos to Buy Gas Assets of Private Colorado Utility

Atmos Energy Corp. said Friday it is buying the natural gas assets of privately held ComFurT Gas Inc. for $1.95 million in cash. ComFurT serves 1,800 gas customers in Buena Vista, CO, where it is headquartered.
