Southern Union Buys Sid Richardson Pipeline Network for $1.6B

Pennsylvania-based Southern Union Co. extended its nationwide natural gas pipeline network Friday, announcing it will pay $1.6 billion in cash to purchase the privately held Sid Richardson Energy Services Co. of Fort Worth. The company, started by legendary wildcatter Sid Richardson and his nephew Perry Bass in 1947, includes 4,000 miles of gas pipe in West Texas and New Mexico.

Chief Oil, Second Largest Barnett Shale Producer, Decides on Sale

Privately held Chief Oil & Gas LLC, the second largest natural gas producer in the Barnett Shale of North Texas, will be up for sale by the end of the year, according to a company spokeswoman. Chief, which concentrates solely on the Barnett, currently produces 120 MMcf/d of gas and has about 230,000 leased acres.

Burlington Buys Remaining Stake in Savell Field for $400M

Looking to raise its production output in Texas, Burlington Resources Inc. has reached a $400 million agreement to acquire substantially all the assets of a privately held company that is a co-owner with Burlington in the prolific Savell Field in the Bossier trend of East Texas. Burlington said the acquisition will “significantly increase” the company’s production in the field and raise its Bossier trend leaseholdings to approximately 200,000 net acres.

Oneok Selling Texas Panhandle Gas Gathering Assets for $528M

Oneok Inc. said Tuesday it will sell a substantial segment of its natural gas gathering and processing assets for $528 million to Eagle Rock Energy, a privately held company based in Houston. The properties in the Texas Panhandle include six gas processing plants with 150 MMcf/d of capacity and current average throughput of 70%, 3,700 miles of gas gathering lines, and estimated natural gas liquids production of 13,500 bbl/d.

California Firm Pushes Multi-Use Landfill Gas Conversion in Ohio Project

FirmGreen Energy, a privately held Newport Beach, CA, alternative energy company announced Wednesday that ground has been broken for a three-phase trash-to-energy project with the Franklin County Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO). The project will involve capturing, cleaning and using methane and carbon dioxide (CO-2) from SWACO’s landfill gas in multiple end-use applications.

GE Commercial Finance Energy Financial Services (EFS) and privately held Locin Oil Corp. have acquired 96 Bcf of net proved gas reserves for $147 million from Equitable Production Co. The assets include 1,200 wells in Pennsylvania and Ohio, and more than 220 proven and probable undeveloped drilling locations have been identified.

SemGroup Buys Central Alberta Midstream Gathering and Processing Network from BP, Chevron

SemCanada, L.P., a subsidiary of the privately-held SemGroup L.P., announced Thursday it signed a definitive purchase and sale agreement to buy Central Alberta Midstream (CAMS), the largest licensed sour gas processor in Alberta, from BP Canada Energy and Chevron Canada Resources (CCR), Canadian subsidiary of ChevronTexaco Corp.

El Paso Corp. on Friday sold its remaining interests in Enterprise Products Partners LP. for $425 million to EPCO Inc., a privately held company formed by Enterprise’s founder, Dan L. Duncan. The sale includes El Paso’s 9.9% interest and 13.5 million common units in the general partner of Enterprise.
