ANR Pipeline proposes to establish two new transportationservices to meet the hourly natural gas demands of powergenerators, primarily in the Midwest market.

Patricia K. Swanke has been named vice president, operations,for The Dayton Power and Light Co., effective immediately. Swankebegan her career at DP&L in 1990 and has held variouspositions, most recently as managing director of gas and electrictransmission and distribution operations.

DPL Inc., parent of the Dayton Power and Light Co., was recentlyselected by the Indiana Farm Bureau as its energy partner, thecompany said last week. Under the agreement, DPL Energy will be theenergy provider of choice for the Indiana Farm Bureau and itsmembership, supplying natural gas and other energy services. Thisannouncement comes on the heels of DPL and the Ohio Farm Bureaurenewing their eight-year relationship. The Indiana Farm Bureau hasrepresented Hoosier farmers since 1919 and is now the largestagricultural organization in Indiana with more than 272,000members. It provides its members with a number of value-addedservices that include insurance, accounting, education, and nownatural gas through DPL Energy. DPL currently manages approximately25 Bcf of natural gas annually.

KeySpan Energy, which has been focusing increasingly ondownstream and electric power activities, is considering the saleof its 64% ownership interest in E&P arm Houston Exploration.An announcement last week said KeySpan and Houston Exploration hadbegun a process to review “a full range of strategic transactions”and hired J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. as financial advisor.

Cash prices rode a soaring October futures contract,stilll-strong power generation demand and the remote threat ofTropical Storm Floyd to higher levels again Thursday. Gains wereslowing down from Wednesday’s pace but ranged from 2-3 cents at afew points to about a dime at many of them.

Minneapolis-based Northern States Power Co. will add about 5,000natural gas and 15,000 propane customers in four states through theacquisition of Natrogas Inc., also of Minneapolis. The dealrequires regulatory approval.
