Hearings on Mackenzie Project Postponed Until 2006

Regulatory hearings on Canada’s entry in the arctic pipeline race have been postponed until 2006, prompting the Northwest Territories government to warn that the C$7-billion (US$5.6-billion) Mackenzie Gas Project could be shelved. The lag gives Alaska a chance to take over the North American lead in northern supply development, territorial energy minister Brendan Bell said.

Mackenzie Pipeline Project Hearings Postponed

Public hearings on the C$7 billion Mackenzie Gas Project have been postponed for at least two months, with the sponsors adding they cannot predict how long the delay will turn out to be for Canada’s arctic development. In a letter to the National Energy Board, senior Mackenzie partner Imperial Oil Ltd. said the project will not be ready for hearings that were planned for late summer or early fall.

Shell Delays Mars, Auger Platform Repairs Due to ‘Loop Currents’ in the Gulf

Shell Exploration & Production Co. said last week that due to ongoing loop currents in the area, it has postponed flexjoint replacements on both its oil and natural gas export lines at Mars tension leg platform (TLP) located in the Gulf of Mexico. As a result, the company will also postpone shutting down the platform.

El Paso postponed Line 3051 maintenance between Monument Plant and Phillips Lee Plant, previously scheduled to begin Tuesday. The line is now set to be shut in April 29-May 3, during which there will be no flow to or from the IPHLEE and ICABHOBS points. El Paso also said replacement of the Bondad Station’s B turbine will continue through Thursday, keeping station capacity limited to 630 MMcf/d; it will increase to 725 MMcf/d on Friday.
