PAA Natural Gas Storage LLC has begun commercial operations of the second of three storage caverns at its Pine Prairie facility in Evangeline Parish, LA, increasing aggregate working gas capacity to approximately 13.8 Bcf. Phase I development of the Pine Prairie facility consists of three caverns with aggregate permitted capacity of 24 Bcf. The first cavern began operation in October. The second cavern received the requisite permits in March and has just begun operations. Leaching operations on the third cavern began in December, and this cavern is expected to begin operations during the second quarter of 2010. The company is indirectly owned 50% by Plains All American Pipeline LP and 50% by Vulcan Capital.

Bobcat’s First Cavern Completes One Week of Operation

The first cavern at the Bobcat Gas Storage facility in St. Landry Parish, LA, has completed one week of operations and is fully subscribed, while a second cavern is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2009, Bobcat’s owners said Wednesday.

Transportation Notes

Gulf South said Saturday scheduled maintenance at its Bistineau Storage Facility in Bienville Parish, LA would continue for approximately four more days. Physical withdrawals are now available again, but physical injections will remain unavailable until the work is finished, Gulf South said. To the extent that firm service is interrupted during this period, Gulf South said it will claim force majeure for as long as service cannot be performed due to the maintenance.

Transportation Notes

Gulf South said Tuesday it had begun unscheduled maintenance on unit #7 at Montpelier Compressor Station in St. Helena Parish, LA that will continue until further notice. Scheduled work that started June 1 on the station’s Unit # 1, and which limited capacity north of Montpelier by as much as 75 MMcf/d, continues. Gulf South said the restriction could increase up to 150 MMcf/d while both engines are out of service.
