Gulf South plans to begin repairs at the start of Thursday’s gas day on Index 817 (its 42-inch diameter East Texas Expansion) in DeSoto Parish, LA. In order to reduce pipeline pressures to allow the maintenance, Gulf South said it will reduce scheduled capacity to 1.165 Bcf/d in the Expansion Area 16 Receipt scheduling group, which it expects to continue through Friday.

Storage Developer, Salt Mine Operator Do Battle in Louisiana

Henry Gas Storage LLC’s (HGS) proposal to construct a 46 Bcf natural gas storage project in the Cote Blanch Salt Dome in St. Mary Parish, LA, is taking fire from the North American Salt Co. (NASC), which claims that the project could jeopardize its workers in the adjacent rock salt mine and create environmental and economic concerns.

Egan Hub Asks to Place 5.5 Bcf Cavern in Service

Egan Hub Storage LLC Friday asked FERC for the green light to place a fourth cavern at its storage facility in Acadia Parish, LA, into service by Wednesday (July 29) with an interim capacity of approximately 5.5 Bcf.

FERC OKs Egan Hub Header Expansion for Service

FERC Friday approved Egan Hub Storage LLC’s request to begin service on an expansion of the pipeline header system at its storage facility in Acadia Parish, LA. This comes a week after the agency cleared for service a fourth storage cavern with an interim capacity of approximately 5.5 Bcf (see Daily GPI, July 27).

Cheniere Energy has won approval from FERC to modify its Sabine Pass terminal in Cameron Parish, LA, to allow for the reexport of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The company cited shifts in the global market for LNG that have made cargoes more valuable in other markets.
