Xcel Unit Reaches Settlement Tied to 2000-2001 California Power Sales

Xcel Energy subsidiary Public Service Co. of Colorado (PSCo) last Wednesday said that it has reached a settlement pact with a group of California entities including, among others, the California attorney general, involving a number of proceedings before FERC relating to the price of sales into the California electricity markets from May 1, 2000 through June 20, 2001.

El Paso Sells Cedar Brakes to Bear Stearns, Transfers Supply Pact to Constellation

El Paso Corp. took several more steps last Wednesday in its effort to sell its domestic power portfolio and reduce its debt. The company said it is selling interests in its Cedar Brakes I and II power companies, which supply Public Service Electric and Gas Co., to Bear Stearns affiliate Arroyo Energy Investors LP for $106 million.

Sonora Pacific Liquefied Natural Gas, a unit of Houston-based DKRW Energy LLC, announced last Tuesday it signed an agreement with the government of Sonora, Mexico, to build a 1.3 Bcf/d LNG regasification terminal at Puerto Libertad on the Gulf of California and associated gas pipeline facilities to serve markets in Mexico, Arizona and California.
