Court Orders McGraw-Hill to Turn Over Data in Energy Transfer Case

A federal judge in Washington, DC, last week ordered McGraw-Hill Companies Inc., which owns Inside FERC publisher Platts, to turn over information to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) related to its complaint against Energy Transfer Partners LP and three of its subsidiaries for attempted manipulation of physical natural gas prices at the Houston Ship Channel delivery hub in September and November 2005.

Aquila’s Dual Transactions Get Antitrust Clearance

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) granted early termination of the waiting period under antitrust law for Black Hills’ acquisition of Aquila’s electric generation and distribution properties in Colorado and its gas distribution properties in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska. The FTC did the same for the proposed merger of Aquila’s Missouri-based electric utility with a subsidiary of Great Plains Energy Inc., the parent of Kansas City Power & Light.

Dominion Bets on Gas Storage with Northeast Expansion

Dominion, which already owns and operates an underground natural gas storage system with about 960 Bcf of capacity, last week unveiled its Storage Factory Project, designed to expand its capacity by up to 50 Bcf. The operation would serve customers in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic areas.

Dominion, which already owns and operates an underground natural gas storage system with about 960 Bcf of capacity, Tuesday announced the Storage Factory Project, which would expand its capacity by up to 50 Bcf. The operation would serve customers in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic areas.

FERC OKs ANR Storage Expansion in Michigan

FERC has issued a certificate approving ANR Pipeline’s proposal to enhance the working gas capacity at the four natural gas storage reservoirs that the pipeline owns and operates in central and western Michigan. All told, the proposed changes will increase ANR’s firm storage capacity by 13 Bcf and its deliverability by 212 MMcf/d.
