Shell Wants to Tie Executive Compensation to Performance

The Royal Dutch/Shell Group on Thursday proposed tightening executive compensation policies to end the use of stock option grants. The plan, which must be approved by shareholders, would make the awarding of share bonuses to its directors dependent on the company’s performance.

TransCanada, Shippers Reach Settlement on 2005 Toll Structure

TransCanada has reached a settlement agreement with its shippers on its 2005 Canadian mainline transportation toll structure. The new tolls, which still must be filed at the National Energy Board (NEB) and approved, contain no major surprises. They include a similar level of operation and maintenance expenses and depreciation costs as in 2004, and a 9.56% return on equity — as set by the NEB.

Market Achieves Gains at Nearly All Points

The market was finding pockets of heating load that it must have ignored earlier, for despite generally bearish talk on Monday, prices rose nearly across the board Tuesday between a little less than a nickel and about 45 cents. A few flat to slightly lower points were almost buried amid the overall advances.
