El Paso Raises 2010 Earnings Guidance

Lifted by growth in its steady natural gas pipeline business and gains from the exploration unit, El Paso Corp. said last week quarterly net income rose 86% from a year ago to $147 million (21 cents/share), compared with $79 million (11 cents) in the year-ago period. Revenue rose to $1.4 billion from $1 billion.

EIA Lifts Gas Price Forecast for 2010

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) last week lifted its forecast on Henry Hub natural gas spot prices for 2010 from a month ago, expecting them now to average $4.70/MMBtu, which is 75 cents above 2009’s average price and 22 cents more than government forecasters predicted in June.
